Within the framework of the PISCEnLIT project, an environmental analysis of fish production systems in ponds was carried out in France. The aim of this analysis was to find ways for the improvement and ecological intensification of this production. The present study contributed to these objectives. It was focused on fish production in ponds in the Brenne area and characterized the diversity of this system by the schematization of its operation and the realization of a typology, identifying four classes of fish producers. Then, the environmental assessment of the impacts of these classes was carried out by Life Cycle Analyse (LCA). The results of one class were discussed. It appears that the studied system is semi intensive and that its environmental impacts are low relative to those of a reference system.
